DESCRIPTION

CLASSIC VARIETE, a new series of concerts featuring opera, operetta and musical at VARIETE.

This unique concert series will invite the audience to take part in intimate encounters with the works of the great masters of opera and operetta, including: Franz Lehár, Imre Kálmán and the undisputed king of the waltz: Johan Strauss.

We will hear moving arias and unforgettable duos from pieces such as: La Traviata, The Csardas Princess, The Gypsy Baron, The Merry Widow, The Flittermouse, Giuditta or Countess Maritza. The repertoire will also feature beautiful Neapolitan songs and well-known and much-loved hit songs from such titles as: Fiddler on the Roof, The Phantom of the Opera or My Fair Lady.

The concerts will be performed by outstanding solo singers of the young generation, who have won numerous awards at prestigious national and international competitions.

Unusual voices and temperaments, diverse repertoire, one common goal: to transport listeners for a moment to a parallel, fairy-tale world of music.

We invite you to enjoy on 28 September the first act of our series entitled: VINCERO. The concert programme will include magnificent arias and duos performed by Justyna Bujak (soprano) and Tomasz Dziwisz (tenor), who, accompanied by the musical ensemble, will perform, among others Imre Kálmán’s “Let Me Dance and Let Me Sing” and “Silva’s aria”, Frederick Loewe’s “I Could Have Danced All Night” from the musical My Fair Lady, and the aria “Nessun dorma” from Giacomo Puccini's opera Turandot, which refers to the title of the concert. The concert will be conducted by Maciej Gogolkiewicz.

The second act BECAUSE THIS IS LOVE will be presented on 25 October. The concert programme will include wonderful duets from Mozart's operas such as "The Magic Flute" and "Don Giovanni" and timeless arias, including: Bullfighter's aria from the opera "Carmen" by G. Bizet. There will be also czardas, love operetta hits and the famous song of Tevye from the musical "Fiddler on the Roof" by J. Bock. The performers will be: Justyna Bujak (soprano), Łukasz Kostka (baritone) and Krzysztof Włodarczyk (piano). The concert will be conducted by Maciej Gogołkiewicz.

The third act VISSI D'ARTE - I LIVED FOR ART will be presented on 23 November. This time, the program will feature wonderful female duets, including: "Duet of Flowers" from the opera "Lakmé" by L. Delibes and "Duet of Cats" by G. Rossini. Performers: Justyna Bujak (soprano), Ewa Menaszek (mezzo-soprano), Elżbieta Skrzymowska (violin), Jan-Kanty Mikosz (piano). The concert will be conducted by Maciej Gogołkiewicz.

The last meeting this year, titled BRUNETTES, BLONDES, will take place on 14 December. Three soloists will grace the stage, performing illustrious pieces such as "Artists, artists, artists from the Varieté" from the operetta "Princess Csardas" by I. Kalman, the titular hit "Brunettes, Blondes" by R. Stolz, and the musical duet of Christine and Phantom from the iconic "The Phantom of the Opera" by A. L. Webber. The performers include: Justyna Bujak (soprano), Michał Dziedzic (tenor), Kamil Zdebel (baritone), Przemysław Winnicki (piano). The event will also feature festive Christmas accents!

These intimate meetings with music will take place in the foyer of the Krakow VARIETE Theatre. We have planned surprises for our guests and not just musical ones.
