CLASSIC VARIETE is a series of concerts featuring opera, operetta and musical at VARIETE.
This unique concert series will invite the audience to take part in intimate encounters with the works of the great masters of opera and operetta, including: Franz Lehár, Imre Kálmán and the undisputed king of the waltz: Johan Strauss. The concerts will be performed by outstanding solo singers of the young generation, who have won numerous awards at prestigious national and international competitions. Unusual voices and temperaments, diverse repertoire, one common goal: to transport listeners for a moment to a parallel, fairy-tale world of music. These intimate meetings with music will take place in the foyer of the Krakow VARIETE Theatre. We have planned surprises for our guests and not just musical ones.
March is Women’s Month!
La donna è mobile, the famous composition by Giuseppe Verdi, will open the March concert dedicated to our ladies. Two of the most famous tenor arias from the most exquisite national operas scored by Stanisław Moniuszko will add to the splendour of the event – Jontek's aria Szumią Jodły na gór szczycie from Act IV of Halka performed by Michał Dziedzic, and Stefan's aria Cisza dokołafrom Act III of Straszny dwór (The Haunted Manor) sung by Piotr Kalina. The repertoire of the concert will be rounded out by Tonight, a fan favourite from A. Elgort's West Side Story, as well as Mamma, a beautiful Neapolitan song by C. Bixio.
