Another event offered as part of the concert autumn in the VARIETE Theatre will be the performance of the group Meek, Oh Why?. The band debuted in 2015 with the mini-album Księżniczka i buc, which was released by the iconic label Asfalt Records. In 2016, the label released another Meek Oh Why?'s album Miło było poznać. Rękopisy nie płona (EP, 2017) and Płyta rodzaju (self-publishing, 2018) are further releases from the group that have been enthusiastically received by both the critics and the audience. The real breakthrough for the band came with the album Zachód (released in 2019 by Asfalt Records), which featured guest performances of Sarsa and the Hyper Son trio.
This year saw the release of the band’s fourth album, entitled Offline. From the musical point of view, this is another reference, after Zachód, to sounds flowing from the hearts of analogue synthesisers, accompanied by a hip-hop groove. The album includes 10 atmospheric tracks on which, in addition to the narration performed by the artist himself, we will hear Szczepan Pospieszalski, Kuba Więcek or Michał Żak. All incorporated in a dark, lightless story that longingly evokes memories of an analogue world.
The band Meek, Oh Why? was founded and is led by Mikołaj Kubicki: songwriter, vocalist and trumpeter, a graduate of the Academy of Music in Kraków.
The music of Meek, Oh Why? offers the listener two seemingly opposing elements: a vibrant city, youth in a contemporary perspective, a commentary on current phenomena and events, but also elements of romanticism, lyricism and utopian ideas.
