The band has recently celebrated its 30th anniversary, but in their case, there is no question of cashing of past successes. Each album is the opening of a new phase as the musicians always look to the future. As Wojciech Waglewski jokes: “We decided once again to make a disc that nobody would like to buy…”. In the case of the previous album “Dobry wieczór”, released in 2014, this assumption had an opposite effect – the disc was awarded the status of gold album status and the song “Gdybym” with guest featuring of the Azeri vocalist Alim Qasimov, which took the first place in the Polish Radio Programme 3 chart for several weeks.
This time the key to the new disc is time and its constant flow. There are only seven tracks on the new Voo Voo album, and each has a title of one day of the week. This will also affect concerts promoting the new disc, after all such meetings with the music of the band have their own unique atmosphere. “Each concert will have a different ambiance because we will start from with the song inspired by the given day of the week. I like these challenges, although I don’t know what will be the final result,” adds Waglewski.
Wojciech Waglewski is the composer and author of all the pieces on the new album of the band, which apart from him includes: drummer Michał Bryndal, bass player Karim Martusewicz, as well as saxophonist and vocalist Mateusz Pospieszalski. The disc was created in December 2016 and January 2017 at Studio S-4 and in the Agnieszka Osiecka, Studio located at the premises of Polish Radio Programme 3. Jacek Gładkowski was responsible for the sound. Piotr “Emade” Waglewski mastered the whole material and assisted at production.
The new Voo Voo album 7 will be released on 7 March 2017 and will be promoted by the track “Środa” (Wednesday).
