Voo Voo returns to the stage of the Krakow VARIETE Theatre on 17 November 2022 with material from their new album Premiera, which will be officially launched on October 28. The disc will feature 11 original songs, including “Ochota” and “Bezruch” with guest featuring of Hania Rani, and “Łajba” created in collaboration with Masha Natanson.
It is difficult to find another such band as Voo Voo, which has been synonymous with musical mastery for years, and at the same time is still experimenting and doesn’t fit into the rigid frames of genre divisions. The group led by Wojciech Waglewski is known primarily for its unique live performances. The latest album entitled Premiera (and released by Agora), is partly the result of an excellent concert streak, as well as the desire to present the current form of the band to the audience. Most of the songs were recorded straight away during live improvisation in the studio.
This is how Wojciech Waglewski recounts the creation of the album:
“These studio recordings saw our fantastic collaboration with two women: Masha Natanson, whose talent really deserves to be spread and if we managed to somehow contribute to that, it’s already a success. The meeting with Hania Rani was exceptionally and surprisingly coherent, because as it turned out, my harmonic anarchy and the unpredictability of our musicians’ creativity are close to her. Our meetings in the studio were very intense. The recordings took little time in order not to lose any of the energy that we hope to transfer to the stage soon. This is a Voo Voo record, it sounds like a Voo Voo record, looks like a Voo Voo record and tastes like a Voo Voo record. Enjoy… Wagiel”.
