DECRIPTION

Krakow’s VARIETE Theatre hosts Voo Voo and its comprehensive Nabroiło się programme on 6 April 2024. Expect many improvisations and surprising renditions of famous hits. No two Voo Voo concerts are alike, but all of them leave listeners in awe and wanting more! Advance ticket sales will run until 20 March 2024.

On 21 April 2021, the band released an anniversary compilation Nabroiło się (1986-2021), featuring a selection of 35 tracks summarising the band's oeuvre – a repertoire created over the course of 35 years of stage activity. Piotr Metz, who wrote Voo Voo’s biography, wrote an apt summary of the new release: “Ladies and gentlemen, this compilation is not just another example of a band releasing their greatest hits and best of album. It is much more than that – the soundtrack to life of more than just one generation, perhaps including yours. Created over the course of different eras, by different warriors and musicians, navigating the harsh reality. The music is their way to tame the unruly existence, knowing what we have done, knowing that we messed up and God can make us pay for that. It points out that there are things which are important.

The album perfectly encapsulates Voo Voo as the band and as a phenomenon that eludes any attempts at pigeon-holing or defining its character. The style of the band and its frontman Wojciech Waglewski continues to evolve and change, constantly surprising fans. The band played countless concerts, released more than 40 albums and collaborated with world-famous artists, including Don Cherry, Nick Cave, Twinkle Brothers, Esperanza Spalding and Alim Qasimov, who was dubbed one of the world's most important contemporary singers by New York Times and won the highly coveted  IMC UNESCO Music Prize, a distinction that put him among the greats, including Yehudi Menuhin, Dmitri Shostakovich and Leonard Bernstein. In Poland, Voo Voo has recorded and performed with Tomasz Stańko, Urszula Dudziak, Leszek Możdżer, Anna Maria Jopek, Katarzyna Nosowska, the Mazowsze Ensemble and the outstanding mezzo-soprano Małgorzata Walewska. One would be hard-pressed to find another band with such an impressive creative output and broad musical horizons.

After the concert, attendees will have an opportunity to buy the double album on CD, as well as a special 4 LP edition on black and coloured vinyl records. The musicians will also host a signing session.
