After the 2024 revival, which garnered raving reviews, Jesus Christ Superstar is slated to return for the Spring 2025 season! The superb vocals, dynamic storyline and meticulously designed choreography all come together and result in an incredibly electrifying experience - a visually stunning and deeply moving journey. The production debuted on the stage of the Warsaw’s Rampa Theatre in 2016 and immediately won over the hearts of reviewers and loyal audiences alike. This private, independent show is part of the Broadway in Poland initiative.
Jesus Christ Superstar is an iconic rock opera by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber, who managed to shake up the musical theatre world in the 1970s. The story of Christ’s seven final days was initially only released as a concept album due to the authors’ concerns that a full show could be seen by many as blasphemous. Even though some still see it as controversial, many consider it a profound spiritual experience. Some even took to calling the rendition by Wocial and Bello a ‘religious and rock retreat’ - including Jan Bończa-Szabłowski in his article in Rzeczpospolita.
Wocial and Bello’s staging is well thought out and superbly directed - they keep the audience at the edge of their seats, constantly engaged in the events taking place on and off the stage.
